Sailing in November

Joel and I went for an afternoon-evening sail on Saturday. It was pretty cold, to say the least, but we had a great time and took some good pics.

mast on just in time to be race CB!

Well we finally have the mast up and just in time to be committee boat for the last "great race"we had a great weekend and were finally able to show everybody that we are no longer a glorified powerboat! on the boat were myself (joel) Graham Walker who works as a custom engineer for HARKEN, Erik that i race with and his new wife Nikki, and also the one and only J-man. Emily unfortunately had to work the whole weekend :( she will be up at the lake with me ALOT this winter though i am sure. it may be chilly but not cold enough not to go sailing! the pictures shown are from the Great Race as well as a trip to my cousins wedding in colorado and also a few pre mast raising pics. The video is of Graham and i motoring upwind towards the race early saturday morning. with the wind we started taking water over the bow. made for a much cooler morning than it already was! still we had a great time!

Boulder Marina Halloween Party

Well, Joel and I attended the Boulder Marina Halloween Party last night. It was a blast! We dressed up as Will Turner and Elizabeth Swan from Pirates of the Caribbean (yeah, I know- go figure... lol). Anyway, we had a great time hanging out with Bob, Terry, and friends. Here are a couple of pics from that night.

more update pics and videos

The above two pictures are courtesy of Deb and Tim

I also want to make note of a few friends websites. The picture above is of Kasey. He is a cool guythat is refitting his boat the same time we are. He has been giving me a hand lately from time to time. This picture was taken when we took out Pascagoula Run on a longer run to try and warm up the engine. we had a good little cruise and hopefully when he gets back from chicago we will be able to sail the boat finally! you can find his site at here

I would also like to acknowledge Deb and Tim From the lake. The are closing in on the cruising life! Alot of fun to talk to and they take really good pictures! they have 2 sites. a blog found by clicking the hyperlink above and a picture site where they happened to take 2 really cool pictures of the boat moving across the water. Thanks again guys!!!

videos of launch day

I have been bad at updating so as an update i will tell you what i have been updating :) try that as a tongue twister. well, the boat is doing well and things are coming along. the mast work has begun and so has the electrical system. i have the interior cabin speakers installed and i just got the mounts for the exterior speakers today! :) i have more than ample wire to get all the mast wiring and interior wiring finished as well as an assortment of fuses circuit breakers and connectors. well, these videos take forever to load so i may have to load these up over the course of a few days. i am heading to the lake tomorrow and i am off monday! lots more to finish... see you on the water.

And She's Back in the Water Where She Belongs...

Saturday, I met Joel and Bob back at Boulder Marina. The Pascagoula Run was no longer sitting in the cradle that has held her for the past ten years; she was up in the slings, and Bob was applying the last few coats of bottom paint to the keel. The sun was baking down on all of us at around 100 degrees, and while we waited for the paint to dry, Joel, Garth, Amanda, and I went for a swim in Cole's Creek just down the road. When we got back, Joel decided it was finally time. Joel, Bob, and I took our places on deck, and Schmitty fired up the tractor and gingerly led the boat to water. After checking for leaks (thankfully there weren't any, due to Joel and Bob's great job installing the new seacocks), the slings were removed, and she glided into the water. We motored over to her new berth, with Garth and Amanda taking video, and several other members of the marina taking pictures and hollering their congratulations. Needless to say, Joel and I are so proud of our boat, and so thankful to those who helped us get this far.

Still waiting for parts...

It is joel this time with a boatload of pictures from my "camera" aka cell phone. the boat is officially watertight. All the thruhulls are mounted, the hull is shiny, the transducer thru hull is in, the engine runs good, the prop is on, and i even have the frame rails for the nav station rebuild installed. things are starting to look up! well, it is my day off and i am getting ready to head back to the lake to do a bit more work so that we can launch the boat once the rudder parts get here. we are really close!

Spit N Shine :)

Yesterday, the boat got two coats of penetrol. She also got about 5 years worth of grime scrubbed off of the deck (the poor thing was neglected for 10 years). We also cleaned and flushed out the anchor locker. Below are some pics of the boat; the first is a before-the-penetrol shot, the latter two are after shots.

Isn't she a beaut?!

The bottom paint is finally on! All that's left before we can put her in the water is to paint the small patches that were under the cradle pads, put in the new thru hulls, sand and paint the very bottom of the keel, and apply a thorough amount of poly-glow. But she's looking pretty great now!
